Statistics of Urban and Rural Land Cover Changes in China

In 2010,China has 161,000km2 of Urban and Rural Land (Figure 2). The figure increases from 144,900 km2 in 2000 to 161,000 km2 in 2010, with the change rate of 11.17%. In 2010, there were five provinces whose Urban and Rural Land area exceeded 10,000km2, including Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Jiangsu and Anhui. Among them, Shandong and Henan exceeded 10% of the total area of the Urban and Rural Land in the country. In four municipalities, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Chongqing, as well as Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Hunan provinces had change rate of over 20%, Chongqing even faster than others

 with the change rate to 45.69%.
