The result of this report is achieved from the CropWatch system which was established in 1998 by Digital Agriculture Laboratory in the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This system relies mostly on remote sensing techniques in combination with classical ground data and is capable of providing timely and objective assessments of crop condition and production with original and novel methods and indicators. It is now one of important component in the GEO/GEOSS Global Agricultural Monitoring (GeoGLAM) initiative set up by the G20 and served as one of the three global agriculture monitoring systems.
